Our Journey Continues

Fractal was an opportunity for the team to give No Man's Sky another scrub and coat of polish. We improved graphics, increased accessibility, and launched the Utopia expedition. We also added "Wonders" to showcase the most remarkable discoveries among the thousands players would amass on their journeys. This was something we'd wanted for a long time.
The heart of Fractal was really the release of PSVR2, and the VR enthusiasts in the team went to town improving every aspect of the experience in virtual reality, from gameplay to performance and rendering. We added flat-screen support for left-handed mode, and some players speculated that this was a prelude to left-handed support in VR. They were right!
In games development often the things that sound hard are easy, and the easy sounding things are hard! The saying is "everything is smoke and mirrors, apart from smoke and mirrors which we have to do a different way". Left handed mode was a passion project, but a silly amount of special case work in VR for one hero on the team who really cared.
