Hello Games

None dialogue

One of our team had a passion for turn-based multiplayer games, and a bunch of experience with developing them. We could see how turn-based games would fit with our multiplayer model, and so the concept of "game tables" was born. We loved the idea of having a game for players to play in more chill moments together.

Xeno Arena came from that love of pet battler games, and the creatures in No Man's Sky. We had always wanted to make more of the pets you collect in No Man's Sky, maybe we could combine the two?

At the start of development, we were hand-crafting every possible battle move, but it quickly became clear that we would need a vast number of moves to make battles fun to play repeatedly - far more than our tiny team could author by hand. So we built a procedural generation system to assign unique moves to each creature, and the result is hundreds of abilities, and a mini-game with a surprising amount of depth.
