Seasonal Commentary

The average playtime is really high on No Man's Sky, and that's something we're proud of. Sometimes players send us saves that are 2000 or 3000 hours long! But there's something special about starting from the beginning, starting from nothing, with a crashed ship on an unfamiliar planet - that's the best bit of any sandbox game - and we wanted to find a way to give that moment back to players. The Expeditions system was a natural evolution of the community missions and weekend missions we'd been running for a few years - bringing players together - and it also encouraged seasoned players to re-experience those first steps stranded on a strange planet. The first expedition we launched was called "Pioneers". Subsequent expeditions have become more experimental and weird as time has gone by... We've been surprised and delighted with how popular they are amongst players, and have gone on to create some incredible moments we couldn't have predicted.
