Seasonal Commentary

Worlds Part I and Part II were originally conceived as one big update. We wanted to refresh exploration by completely overhauling the visuals and diversity of the universe. As often happens with our updates, but with this one in particular... it got huge. Everyone on the team had more and more ideas, and more features they wanted to cram in. We decided to split the update in half, and get features to players sooner. Part I focused on improving existing planets, saving adding entirely new planets for Part II. Years of work came together to allow us to transform water from a fixed sphere to a dynamic, responsive mesh. Meanwhile we rewrote the cloud generation system from scratch. Finally the person who constantly replied to every social media post with "fix clouds" could rest.
